Before it had Lynne Truss, the UK had Look and Read, the schools programme that tried to make reading and grammar fun - and often succeeded in doing so, thanks in large parts to the way out songs and the vocal talents of Mr Derek Griffiths. I can still remember some of the songs now, all these years later - especially 'Magic E' ("... fat becomes fate with me ..."), 'I'm an Apostrophe' ("... I go at the top") and 'Dog Detective' ("... Dog Detective must know ..."), sound recordings of all of which are available with loads of other downloads onlookandread.fsnet.co.uk. My favourite of all time, though has to be 'Drop that E', which is available as an animation on the I Love TV section of BBCi.
